Maya Karin is a celebrated Malaysian actress and environmental activist, with followers spanning Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. She is known for her impactful roles in Malaysian cinema as well as her unwavering commitment to environmental and animal protection causes. Through her artistic endeavours and advocacy work, she has inspired her fans and followers to take note of the many issues connected to the environment, not least the protection of the rainforest and the oceans in her native country of Malaysia and beyond.
Maya is thrilled to announce the launch of her exclusive and new luxury haircare line, featuring her all new Rainforest Handcrafted Shampoo, Rainforest Handcrafted Conditioner, and Rainforest Handcrafted Scalp Serum.
With the launch of her own range of haircare products, she is no longer just the face of third party haircare companies, but is now intimately involved in product development, from selecting specialist sustainable ingredients to ensuring successful product testing and efficacy. The launch of her own range also allows her to promote something close to her heart, namely the protection and sustainability of the Malaysian rainforest itself.
The Creation of a Dream
In addition to building up a name for herself as a leading actress and singer, Maya has also acted as Brand Ambassador to a number of leading global haircare product providers. Taking care of her hair has always been a priority, as looking good in front of the camera is very much part of the job. So, it will come as no surprise that she recognises the importance of quality haircare products and the types of ingredients they require.
Working with her colleague of almost 20 years, Dato’ Jeremy Smeeton, a former international fund manager who spent 30 years in branding and marketing in both Malaysia and overseas, Maya was introduced to his business partner, Mr Michael Cheow, a co-director of his celebrity branding agency, GAAAINS. As owner of C. Michael of London, Michael had been successful in launching his own range of luxury hair and skin care products in the 1980’s to the present day, manufactured both in London and Kuala Lumpur. His brand has since been successfully marketed across the United Kingdom, Europe and South East Asia.
Maya realised that this was the perfect fit for her to develop her own shampoos, conditioners and serums. Combining Dato’ Jeremy’s branding and marketing expertise with her own intimate knowledge of local ingredients, she was able to develop the perfect haircare combinations with the support of Michael’s existing pharmaceutical and manufacturing team. The Malaysian-themed Rainforest Handcrafted range of hair products by Maya Karin was soon conceived and born, and is now finally being brought to market.

Rainforest Handcrafted Scalp Serum by Maya Karin
Maya’s Rainforest Handcrafted Scalp Serum promotes healthy hair growth, particularly those with thinning or weakened hair. Regular use increases moisture retention, and repairs damaged hair. Enriched with vitamin B5 and apple stem cells, it strengthens hair from root to tip and reduces hair fall. The serum is designed to strengthen hair follicles, delay the ageing process at a cellular level, prevent hair drop, repair damaged hair, and encourage fresh, thicker hair growth.
